The Journey Begins

As a travel enthusiast, I always wanted to explore the beauty of Kerala, known as God’s own country. The state located in the southwestern coast of India is a haven for nature lovers, with its scenic backwaters, beaches, and hill stations. Kerala is also famous for Ayurvedic treatments and mouth-watering cuisine. I decided to plan my journey and created a route map of Kerala to make the most of my trip.

Creating a Route Map of Kerala

I started my journey from Kochi, the commercial capital of Kerala, and the gateway to the state. Being a major port city, Kochi is well-connected by air, rail, and roadways. From Kochi, I headed towards Munnar, a hill station famous for its tea gardens, waterfalls, and wildlife. The journey from Kochi to Munnar is around 120 km, and it took me about 4 hours to reach my destination.

After spending a couple of days in Munnar, I headed towards Thekkady, a wildlife sanctuary known for its elephants, tigers, and other endangered species. The journey from Munnar to Thekkady is around 90 km, and it took me around 3 hours to reach there.

The Backwaters and Beaches

From Thekkady, I headed towards Alleppey, also known as the Venice of the East. Alleppey is famous for its backwaters, houseboats, and beaches. The journey from Thekkady to Alleppey is around 140 km, and it took me around 5 hours to reach there.

After spending a couple of days in Alleppey, I headed towards Kovalam, a famous beach destination in Kerala. Kovalam is known for its crescent-shaped beaches, lighthouse, and water sports activities. The journey from Alleppey to Kovalam is around 150 km, and it took me around 6 hours to reach there.

The Ayurvedic Experience

My next destination was Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala. Thiruvananthapuram is famous for its ancient temples, museums, and art galleries. I also experienced Ayurvedic treatments, which are famous in Kerala. The journey from Kovalam to Thiruvananthapuram is around 20 km, and it took me around 1 hour to reach there.

The Journey Ends

My journey ended in Kochi, where I spent a couple of days exploring the city’s historical landmarks and local markets. I also tried some delicious seafood and traditional dishes. The journey from Thiruvananthapuram to Kochi is around 220 km, and it took me around 8 hours to reach there.
